A “youth” (Muslim) was shot and killed by a female, non-Muslim police officer who was violently attacked and stabbed multiple times by the now dead “youth” in a police station. The “youths” (Muslims) rioted because they feel stigmatized from all the “negative news reports” about Muslims. Wrap your head around that one!

Where’s the “Long Telegram”?
Posted in GWOT on October 14, 2007 | Leave a Comment »
Do we even want a “Long Telegram”? The answer is both yes, and no.
From Mark Steyn’s Sunday opinion colum at OCRegister and National Review Online:
Peter Robinson, a Reagan speechwriter in the last years of the Cold War, posed an interesting question the other day. He noted that on Feb. 22, 1946, a mere six [...]
Today’s anniversary

It’s one the MSM does not seem to want you to remember and upon which to reflect.
Thankfully, Deebow @ Blackfive remembers, and notes News Busters also remembered.

“Spies”

One set works against the U.S. and remains at large. (via LGF commenter)
Another set worked, at least in their minds, to help protect the U.S. One member has already been prosecuted and, I suppose, that’s the way it should be. Still, it seems perverse to me. (via Instapundit)

Al Qaeda’s Haditha Strategy
Posted in GWOT, Iraq, Marines, Media on October 8, 2007 | Leave a Comment »
The strategy was a win/win for the terrorists. If the Marines responded with force and innocent civilians were killed, the terrorists would have a media propaganda win. If the Marines exercised extreme restraint after the attacks, the civilians would have viewed the Marines as weak, ineffectual, and unable to protect the citizens from AQ brutality. [...]
Why Syria was silent

Remember the Silence in Syria, Panic in Iran article and speculation as to the target of the Israeli strike? It was nukes.

Over 200 fires burning across Lebanon since last night according to W. Thomas Smith, Jr. at The Tank. Keep checking for updates. (h/t Instapundit)
Remember the intelligence analysis of an impending terrorist attack in Lebanon? Remember the 2004 reports that AQ wanted to wage jihad by setting fire to U.S. forests?

GLOBAL WAR ON TERROR – WAR ON TERROR

He frets, worries and is troubled? Is Admiral Mullen a warrior or someone’s granny? He also seems to suffer from political correctness.
I’m not seeing negative things from milblogs concerning Admiral Mullen’s nomination this past June. Of course, most of it is praise for General Pace. A comment at Blackfive pegs Mullen as a “manager, not [...]
Talk is cheap

From today’s Opinion Journal, Bush and Iran. After reading this article, I once again ask:
Why is the U.S. in the U.N.?
Why is the U.N. in the U.S.?
Whose side is the State Department on?
Mr. President, I know you know what needs done. Can we please get on with it?

In Beirut, Lebanon

W. Thomas Smith, Jr. is in Beirut. He arrived September 25th, and has four interesting dispatches at The Tank at National Review Online. You can scroll beyond his bio link above to find the link to each of the four posts. An excerpt from yesterday’s A Reconnaissance in Al Dahiyeh:

Iran isn’t our only problem in Iraq
Posted in GWOT, Iraq on August 22, 2007 | 1 Comment »
Iran isn’t the only country undermining our efforts in Iraq. So is Syria. From Senator Joe Lieberman’s featured article at the Opinion Journal [emphasis mine]:
That is why we now must focus on disrupting this flow of suicide bombers–and that means focusing on Syria, through which up to 80% of the Iraq-bound extremists transit. Indeed, even [...]
Seattle Ferries

Gateway Pundit reported yesterday that the FBI is asking for the public’s help in indentifying two men after the men were seen by passengers acting strangely aboard ferry runs on several occasions.
Today, Michelle Malkin has more, and reminds us this is not the first time possible terrorists have probed the ferry system.
As with the Twin [...]

The Saudis Again?
Posted in GWOT on August 16, 2007 | Leave a Comment »
There’s an interesting criminal court battle brewing involving the Islamic Center of Washington, in existence since 1957. These proceedings will be worth following as it would bring to the forefront of public discussion the history of Saudi involvement in radicalizing mosques within the United States. [emphasis mine].
The fireworks began earlier this year when federal prosecutors [...]
